The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Program provides incentive for economic growth in low income communities by offering a federal tax credit to coporations that will invest in Community Development Entities (CDEs). A CDE is a financial intermediary which has private capital flowing through to invest in a company located in a low income community. Through investing in this businesses, private companies and corportations will have the opportunity to help widen access to commericial goods and services in low income communities, and in turn revitilizing these areas.
