MVPC Launches River Cleanup Invitation for Bid

See all News

As part of the ongoing Merrimack River Cleanup Initiative, the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC), in partnership with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments (NMCOG) and five Merrimack River communities: Tyngsborough, Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, and Haverhill, has released an Invitation for Bid (IFB) to advance regional efforts to address river pollution and raise public awareness.

Last month, the Merrimack River Cleanup Initiative formally met for its project kickoff. The first task of the working group was to release an IFB for the procured services of this project. This IFB seeks a vendor to purchase, install, and maintain two 100-foot floating river booms in each of the five municipalities. These booms will be used to collect floating debris before it can travel farther downstream. The selected vendor will be responsible for delivering all necessary equipment, overseeing installation, and conducting monthly maintenance to ensure the booms remain effective throughout the project period.

This Invitation for Bid represents a regional approach to both physical cleanup and community engagement. The Merrimack River Cleanup Initiative seeks lasting environmental improvements while keeping our communities informed and involved.
