See all News

The Great Marsh Resiliency Task Force, co-chaired by Senator Bruce Tarr and organized by MVPC’s Peter Phippen, convened for the 10th time at their annual meeting on January 27th, 2023.  This year, the speakers covered a broad range of topics, presenting on a diversity of work across the Great Marsh system aimed at bolstering coastal resiliency in the face of a changing climate. Updates were provided on the Merrimack River dredging project, invasive species removal including phragmites and perennial pepperweed, restoration of native eelgrass, microplastic monitoring, permit streamlining for wetland projects, as well as marsh restoration work such as ditch-remediation, runneling, and thin layer placement.

The breadth and depth of projects across the Great Marsh as well as the diversity of organizations and practitioners working in this space was inspiring to hear. A big thanks to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and Senator Tarr for helping to host this great event!
