MVPC Conducts Land Use Bylaw Review for Climate Resiliency

See all News

In November, the Baker-Polito Administration announced over $1.4 million to support local land use planning across the Commonweath. This funding included a grant to MVPC to work with Ipswich River Watershed communities to enhance land use regulation for climate change mitigation.

MVPC is excited to partner with the Ipswich River Watershed Association (IRWA) to implement Mass Audubon’s Bylaw Review for LID & Climate-Smart, Nature-Based Solutions tool. This Audubon Program has been used to complete over a dozen municipal bylaw reviews in Massachusetts. Together, MVPC and IRWA will bring this tool to the North Shore region for the first time in the communities of Andover, Boxford, Georgetown, and North Andover.

This project advances not only specific goals set forth in each community’s Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness plans, but also the larger goal of improving regional resiliency for MVPC communities in this stressed Watershed. Project kick-off is expected in the new year.
