MassDOT Transportation Innovation Conference: We’re There

See all News

You won’t want to miss out on the MassDOT Transportation Innovation Conference on May 25-27, 2021.  MVPC’s Jerrard Whitten and Steve Lopez from the GIS and IT Program, and Jim Terlizzi, Transportation Engineer, will be speaking on the topic of Streamlining Pavement Management with Automation and GIS Integration.

Join us for a discussion of the evolution of MVPC’s pavement management systems, the technology used to make it happen, and demonstrations of mobile and desktop applications.  For more than 30 years, MVPC has been collecting and analyzing the pavement conditions of its non-interstate highway arterial and local roads across the Merrimack Valley.

With the use of new technology, the creation of a data-centric “GIS ecosystem” accessible to all users, and integration with the CarteGraph OMS pavement management module, staff established a map connection with cartographic representations of each pavement condition segment.  Using automated synchronization tasks, two-way replication ensures all interconnected systems utilize the most current data.  By making these improvements, MVPC is able to create a more user-friendly interface that makes it easier to collect and analyze data and create pavement management programs for our member communities.

The session is entitled Practices in Municipal and Regional Transportation. MVPC will be joined by staff from the Cape Cod Commission and Michael Baker International.
