Wicked High Tide: Flooding Concerns

MVPC is raising awareness for Merrimack Valley community members:
The next wicked high tide is expected to impact the Massachusetts coastline Thursday, December 4th through Saturday, December 6th.
Why is this important?
A wicked high tide is when sea levels are 2-4 feet higher than average. As a result, many coastal communities experience increased flood levels, intensity, and, most importantly, impacts. These tides also preview what a typical high tide will be like as sea levels rise. Specific tide levels can be found on usharbors.com/tides.
How can you document impacts and help your community?
Get out your cameras, take photos of the tides, floods, and any impacts, and upload them to the MyCoast platform. And, encourage residents and your networks to do the same. It’s simple – Download the MyCoast app or head to mycoast.org/ma to upload any images and location info. This helps Massachusetts’ Coastal Zone Management (CZM) team and other partners understand extreme weather along our coasts and make informed decisions. As a public platform, MyCoast’s images are also available to you, to support community flooding education and advocacy.
