Transportation Data Analyst

Job Type: Full Time (35 hours per week) 

Program: Transportation 

Location: Haverhill, Massachusetts (three in-office days, two telework days per week) 

Salary: Commensurate with Experience 

The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) seeks an enthusiastic and self-motivated Transportation Data Analyst to advance transportation planning across 15 diverse member communities located within the northern bounds of Boston’s Urbanized Area (UZA).

MVPC’s transportation program staffs the regional MPO in northern Massachusetts, fulfilling the region’s federal aid planning process. Staff also perform both technical and boots-on-the ground planning work for member communities and the regional transit authority (MeVa). Current and recent projects include MV Vision Zero (regional roadway safety plan), MV Moves (regional active transportation plan), ferryboat planning, Valley Tally (wireless trail count program), and a comprehensive evaluation of MeVa’s fare free transit policy. 

 This position executes data-oriented transportation planning tasks in a supportive capacity with opportunities for project and/or consultant management, dependent on the annual work program. Under the guidance of the Transportation Program Manager, the selected candidate will function as the primary GIS, statistical, and database management resource for MVPC’s transportation program. The selected candidate must be able to collaborate with a team of transportation planners, while working within the guidelines developed by the GIS/IT Program, to develop both spatial and non-spatial analyses and data visualization tools.
