MVPC Attends DLTA Day at the State House

See all News

Last week, Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) Executive Director Jerrard Whitten, Deputy Director/Finance Director Jenifer Dunlap, and Community & Economic Development Program Manager Ian Burns attended DLTA Day at the State House. The annual event highlights the importance of District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA), a state-funded program that supports critical planning efforts across Massachusetts. Through DLTA funding, MVPC is able to partner with communities on projects related to housing, economic development, environmental resiliency, and other regional collaboration initiatives. This funding is crucial in helping municipalities advance key initiatives by supplementing local capacity and providing specialized planning expertise.

The event was led by the Massachusetts Association of Regional Planning Agencies (MARPA) in partnership with Representative Paul Donato and Senator Jamie Eldridge, both lead champions of the DLTA line item in the state budget. Several other regional planning agencies attended, along with legislators from across the Commonwealth. From MVPC’s region, Representative Kristen Kassner and the office of Representative Andy Vargas both attended to show their support for the DLTA budget.
