The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) transportation staff, along with Groundwork Lawrence and the Mayor’s Health Taskforce, hosted a community engagement event in Lawrence on August 16th for the Lower Tower Hill demonstration project. The project involves safety and placemaking interventions at Lowell Street and Margin Street, as well as at other intersections within the neighborhood.
The event was held at the community garden located at the intersection of Lowell and Margin, with a goal of gaining community feedback and insight into what intersections most need safety interventions as well as what types of interventions residents would like to see. The photo above shows the outreach posters, with potential intersections on the right and potential interventions on the left. The list of intersections was narrowed down with community input, and the project will move forward with design of potential interventions. The event was a great way to interact with community members and project partners at Groundwork Lawrence and the Mayor’s Health Taskforce, who were instrumental in carrying out the event.
