Revitalizing a Beloved Map: MIMAP’s Upcoming Upgrade

See all News

Originally created in 2006, MIMAP still stands as one of our most widely used applications. Since then, it has gone through a complete revision in 2015. Now a decade on, it is once again starting to show its age – some functions are no longer working as the technology world marches on and eventually we fear it will become incompatible with newer tech as a whole. Every application has a life cycle and we must come to a crossroads where we ask ourselves if we pull the plug or take a leap and try something brand new.

In partnership with Groveland, we have been able to take that leap of faith and push MIMAP into a new era. While the progress has been a long time coming and kept under wraps, we are nearing a stage where the brand new MIMAP will be sent out for beta testing with our most prolific and experienced users.

Do not fear – the MIMAP you know and love will still look and feel very similar to what you have always had. We tried our best to move as little as possible to keep your muscle memory intact and avoid making our users relearn everything from the ground up. Here’s a sneak peek at our new interface, with the town of Groveland as our guinea pig.

This upgrade to MIMAP not only gives us support on a platform that is being actively developed, but also offers new possibilities for functionality – such as creating and delivering reports directly in your browser. It is also far easier to update, which makes it less likely that you will run into technical problems in the long run.

We hope to have this new application in your hands soon, so stay tuned! In the meantime, the current version of MIMAP will keep chugging along as it always has.
