This month, the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC) reconvened its Mayors & Managers Coalition following the summer recess. Comprised of Mayors, Town Managers, Town Administrators, and State Legislators, this coalition has convened semi-annually since its establishment in 2018 to foster collaborative, regional approaches to municipal leadership. Historically, the coalition has addressed key issues, including regionalization of services, energy program initiatives, collective procurement strategies, and advancing legislative advocacy efforts in coordination with the Merrimack Valley’s Federal and State Delegations.
The focus of the September meeting was to address high-priority concerns and drive progress on regional housing, economic development, and transportation objectives. MVPC delivered programmatic updates on the region’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, Housing Production Plans, and the Vision Zero initiative. Additionally, MVPC introduced newly developed online resources, including the Combined Sewer Overflow Early Alert Tool and an enhanced regional Demographics page.
Throughout the year, MVPC convenes these meetings to collaboratively address shared regional challenges and devise solutions across jurisdictions.
