MVPC, in partnership with MassHire, recently conducted a survey of Merrimack Valley employers to learn how to better respond to their workforce challenges. Their responses will be used to shape programming focused on connecting employers with additional workforce resources.
Some highlights of the report include:
- Over 90% of respondents say workforce recruitment and retention is either their #1 business challenge or one of a few top challenges.
- Over 50% of manufacturers have needed to reduce their local production due to a workforce shortage.
- Most employers could use more information on state programs that are available to support their workforce needs.
- Pay, training, transportation, and childcare were identified as the top four greatest barriers to work for employees, in that order.
