MVPC would like to give a warm welcome to our newest GIS Technician, Aaron Hume. Aaron comes to MVPC from the Town of Chester, New Hampshire where he worked as a Trail Cartographer and Conservation Easement Monitor in addition to serving on the town Conservation Commission and Planning Board. Using GIS, Aaron was responsible for developing and maintaining the town’s trail data as well as creating maps and data collection applications to support ongoing fieldwork. Prior to his time at the Town of Chester, Aaron worked as a GIS Transportation Engineering Intern and Archive Assistant for the City of Portland, Maine. There he developed mobile applications and spatial data to support the management of the city parking schedule and archives.
Holding a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Science from the University of New Hampshire in 2020 and a B.S in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015, Aaron brings a well-rounded skill set and strong data management skills to the Commission. His municipal roots paired with extensive data development experience make him an excellent addition to the MVPC team and our GIS program.
As the GIS Technician, Aaron is responsible for developing and managing data in support of the Commission’s GIS Program. This includes integrating GIS and technical skills into the planning environment through services such as map creation, spatial analysis, data development, and data interpretation for local and regional planning activities.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Aaron enjoys hiking and scuba diving in his free time, as well as staying engaged with his local community. Welcome to the region, Aaron, we are excited to have you on board!
