Last week the Baker-Polito administration announced the 2021 Action Grants for the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program (MVP). This round of resiliency funding awarded over $21 million in Action Grants to Massachusetts cities and towns. The Merrimack Valley communities of Andover, Groveland, Haverhill, Methuen, and Lawrence were among the grant recipients. Every community in the Merrimack Valley has completed the MVP designation process and is eligible to apply for competitive grants to implement priority actions to adapt to climate change. As a certified MVP Provider, MVPC is excited to have assisted Andover, Methuen and Lawrence as well as others communities in the MVP planning process.
Priority projects funded through MVP Action Grants in the Merrimack Valley include:
Andover – Shawsheen River Watershed Land Conservation Planning and Prioritization for Climate Resilience and Environmental Justice $131,700
Groveland – Johnson Creek Watershed Flood Resiliency Project $82,186
Haverhill – Little River Dam Removal and River Restoration $475,000
Methuen and Lawrence – Searles Pond/Bloody Brook Corridor Resilience Planning $80,250
