For those of you who didn’t get to tune into last month’s newsletter, May was National Bike Month and several of MVPC’s staff members took to the roads to meet MassBike’s Challenge to bike to work, school, or get a ride in before your first meeting.
Environmental Program Manager Jen Hughes didn’t need much convincing being an avid cyclist in her free time and shared photos of her commute from the Georgetown Park and Ride down Route 97 through Groveland and over the Merrimack River into Haverhill.
Our Community and Economic Development Planner Nate Robertson not only shared his short commute through a few quaint Haverhill neighborhoods, but also recounted the time he took to the streets with State Representative Andy Vargas, Noah Koretz from MassDevelopment, and Matt Juros from the Haverhill Chamber and Fishbrook Design to recreate the ride of Paul Revere by bike.
So, did you get out for Bike Month this past May? Share your stories with us and watch next year for the many events across the state celebrating this alternative transportation. The MassBike website is a great place to start. Head here to check out the results of the MassBike challenge.
The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission’s Transportation Program is committed to a multi-modal transportation system that is bicycle and pedestrian accessible. Check out our program page or contact us directly for more information.
