MVPC is excited to announce we have created a region-wide layer of subsidized housing data, which will provide a new way for municipalities in the Merrimack Valley to view and track the subsidized housing units located in their community. As part of our Economic Development Viewer, the layer plots the location and size of subsidized housing units throughout our region. Additional details of each housing development include the number of units, expiration date, address, and more.
You can click here to access the map, or you can find it by going to our website and clicking on Resource Center > Interactive Maps > Economic Development Program > Economic Development Viewer.
Notes about the symbology:
- Larger, deeper purple icons represent larger developments
- Smaller, lighter purple icons represent smaller developments
- Developments colored in yellow are scheduled to expire in the next two years
- Developments colored in red have already expired or will imminently
Notes on the data:
- This information comes from the MA Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD)
- We refined the information and were able to map over 90% of the total units in the region. Some units are unable to be mapped due to privacy constraints or other factors. If you know of a subsidized housing development that is not located on this map but should be, please contact us by sending an email to [email protected]
Additionally, this data is accessible through each community’s MIMAP for signed-in users. To access the data simply go to the new Layer Catalog by selecting the “I Want To…” menu and choose “Add Data.” There you will find the updated Subsidized Housing data as well as many other important layers that are invaluable to communities but might not be accessed every day. We will continue to build out this catalog as we develop new datasets to empower our communities in data management.
