The Baker-Polito administration recently awarded $13 million in Green Communities Grants to Massachusetts cities and towns. In the Merrimack Valley, Andover, Boxford, Merrimac, Newburyport, North Andover and West Newbury received awards to fund clean energy projects. To be eligible for these competitive grants, communities must complete a five criteria designation process outlined under the Green Communities Act. MVPC is currently assisting the towns of Rowley and Newbury with designation utilizing funding from the Department of Energy Resources (DOER). With their designation, 100% of Merrimack Valley municipalities will be part of this important program focused on increasing energy efficiency, reducing energy costs and helping the state meet its net zero by 2050 emissions goals. Congratulations to the MVPC grant awardees!
