The week of August 2 to August 8 this year is National Farmer’s Market week! For many of us, our relationships with our local farmer’s market have changed, but the availability of fresh food has risen to the forefront of our minds. Participating in your local farmer’s market or community-supported agriculture (CSA) is not only a good choice for your health, but it also stimulates your local economy and minimizes the impact of our food systems on the environment. There are several farmer’s markets in the Merrimack Valley.
MVPC recognizes the benefits of having a local, integrated food system for our communities and residents. We are an active partner in the MassDevelopment’s Transformative Development Initiative in Haverhill, which revamped the Goecke Parking Deck that now houses the Haverhill Farmer’s Market. We are happy to support the farmer’s markets around the region and hope you are inspired to do the same.
Despite the pandemic, many of our region’s markets have found innovative ways to continue to operate and keep patrons as safe as possible, including online ordering. Check out our list of farmer’s markets in the Merrimack Valley for season updates and information about how to participate!
